History of Phillips
Phillips & Co. has been trading as Printers & Stationers since the 1930’s. Mr. Horace Turner purchased the company in 1958. His son Ken took over the business in 1975 and ran it with his wife Tina until his death in May 2009. Now Tina and their son Glenn run the company keeping the firm in the family for it’s third generation. In the mid 1980's we started our Arts and Crafts department and in the mid 1990's we started our Wool and Haberdashery department. From January 2004 we became a Limited Company.
The premises we occupy was previously a Public House called the ‘Seven Stars’. The rumour is that it ultimately closed because it had become a ‘house of ill repute’!! The bar area was converted into the shop, whilst the skittle alley became the printing works, both have been extensively enlarged over the years.
